Hey, Hello!

Welcome back to another Top Ten Tuesday!

For those of you that don’t know, Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018, where Jana posts in advance topics for us and we then make a post about them.

This weeks topic is: Bookish Discoveries I Made In 2019.

For this post we can talk about books, authors, blogs…anything bookish that we discovered. I personally am going to have a mix of things because I’m pretty sure I didn’t discover 10 of the same type of thing.

Authors

  • Brandon Sanderson – I read Skyward and completely fell in love with the writing in it so now I’m going to be reading (hopefully) all of Brandon’s Cosmere series this year.
  • Libba Bray – I completely adored The Diviners when I read it in October, Libba has such an atmospheric style of writing.

Books

  • The Lunar Chronicles – For ages I had wanted to read these books but I tried Cinder AGES ago and DNF’d it so it put me off, but in 2019 I really wanted to read them so I did and I completely adore them. I only have Winter left to read and I’m so excited.
  • Nevernight Chronicle – Another series I had seen around for ages and wanted to read but I wasn’t prepared for how much I would love it. I still have to read Darkdawn but I know I’ll be heartbroken so I keep putting it off.
  • A Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones) – I had originally started to read A Game of Thrones like 3 years ago and just couldn’t get into it, but decided I wanted to try again. Yes it took 5 months to read book 1 but I loved it so much and cant wait to continue.

Booktube

I had never really watched booktube before but in 2019 I actually made a youtube account so I can subscribe to my favourite booktubers and I’m hooked on their content now.

Genre

My last bookish discovery I made in 2019 was a genre. Thanks to Gavin, one of my favourite booktubers, I discovered Middle Grade as a genre. To date I haven’t read many Middle Grades but I have a bunch of them that I’m super excited to get to.

  1. Gavin, Becca, and Codie were all on my list this week, too. I’m so excited about reading more middle grade! I’ve wanted to for a long time, but I felt so overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start, but Gavin in particular has really helped me find some I think I’ll love.

  2. Libba Bray is one of my favourites! The Diviners is such a fun series, and I can’t wait for the next book to come out! I also really liked A Great and Terrible Beauty when I read it a few years back.

  3. I definitely recommend everything by Brandon Sanderson. ❤ I love his work so much. Even though I haven't read all of it yet.

I read Nevernight last year, too! You need to read Darkdawn. Yes, it'll break you, but you'll come back stronger, I promise. 😉

I really started reading middle grade last year, too, and I've made a commitment to up it this year. There are so many really good midgrade books out there!

    Here's my TTT post.

  4. I love the Lunar Chronicles. I read that series in 2018 but I still think about it now and then.

I also found a lot of booktubers and they are so much fun to watch.

    Have a lovely day.
